BULLETPROOF PROTECTION

Polycarbonate is 200 times stronger and 14 times lighter than standard glass while providing 100% UV protection. In addition to its lightweight and durability, it eliminates the risk of glass shards upon impact, offering an extra layer of safety.

Bulletproof glass is made by laminating multiple layers of float glass with a polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayer, ensuring both security and optimal light transmission. Featuring a no-spall design, polycarbonate-laminated glass prevents glass fragments from entering the protected area, while its scratch-resistant coating ensures long-lasting clarity and visibility.

Ballistic Protection Levels: Choosing the Right Armor

______________________________________________________________________

Ballistic protection levels play a crucial role in determining the security of an armored vehicle. Not all armored cars offer the same level of protection, making it essential to choose the right one based on individual needs. The ideal protection level depends on several factors, including how the vehicle will be used and the potential threats it may face. Whether for tactical operations or daily commuting, factors like cost, vehicle type, and passenger capacity all influence the level of protection required.

Ballistic protection levels define how much security a specific armor rating provides and the type of attack it can withstand. The most widely recognized standard is EN 1063, established by the European Committee for Standardization, which classifies bullet-resistant glass from BR1 to BR7. Other widely used standards include the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), British Ballistic Standard (BBS), and German DIN, each ensuring armor meets strict safety requirements.

The level of threat posed by a firearm depends on multiple factors, such as the bullet’s shape, composition, caliber, weight, and velocity. To certify protection levels, ballistic tests are conducted using specific firearms to ensure that the glass can stop a set number of bullets within a 12-centimeter range. Certified bulletproof glass must remain intact, preventing cracks and flaking after impact to ensure maximum security.

Choosing the right armored vehicle starts with understanding these protection levels, ensuring that the selected vehicle meets the necessary security standards for its intended use.

BR1 ARMOR LEVEL

Provides basic protection against small-caliber handguns, such as .22 LR and 9mm pistols, making it suitable for low-risk environments.

BR2 ARMOR LEVEL

Offers enhanced security against larger handgun calibers, including .357 Magnum, commonly used in personal defense situations.

BR3 ARMOR LEVEL

Designed to withstand high-powered handguns like the .44 Magnum, offering a stronger barrier against armed threats.

BR4 ARMOR LEVEL

Protects against rifles firing intermediate rounds, such as .30-06 and .223 Remington, commonly used in hunting and military applications.

BR5 ARMOR LEVEL

Provides reliable defense against assault rifle rounds, including 5.56x45mm NATO and 7.62x39mm (AK-47), making it ideal for high-risk environments.

BR6 ARMOR LEVEL

Offers superior protection against high-velocity rifle rounds, such as 7.62x51mm NATO (M80), ensuring maximum security against powerful firearms.

BR7 ARMOR LEVEL

The highest level of ballistic resistance, capable of stopping armor-piercing rounds, including .50 BMG, making it suitable for extreme-threat scenarios.

UNDERSTANDING ARMOR LEVELS AND THEIR IMPACT

Choosing the right armor level is about finding the perfect balance between protection and vehicle performance. While higher armor levels provide greater security, they also add weight, which can affect speed and maneuverability. If a vehicle becomes too heavy to evade threats effectively, its protective benefits may be compromised.

At Neptune Auto, we tailor our armoring solutions to match specific needs. For civilian vehicles, we primarily use CEN B6-level protection, ensuring a strong defense without excessive weight. Our cash-in-transit vehicles are equipped with B4 armor, offering reliable security while maintaining agility. For special-purpose vehicles, we enhance protection up to B7 or even B7+, providing maximum resistance against high-caliber threats.
